To be productive, you have to be productive.
You already know. You just don't want to do it. But something is aching you enough that you ended up here.
1. Focus on understanding "state of mind"
This is much bigger than small question of "how to be productive". But this is where it all starts... now get ready here it comes. It's about what you choose to feel vs. what your body is feeling. Just for kicks, just entertain it if it seem logical to you.
You want to be productive, but you are not being productive at this moment. In this moment, you feel tired. Let's change our state of understanding a little bit here and say "your body feels tired" instead of "you feel tired".
Our body is not who we are. Our body is a house where we live in. Our body is not who I am. Our body is reflection of who we are just as same as homeowner taking care of his garden and color of house.
Once you understand this idea then you can begin
2. You must have the will to fight
Your body is strong. It's been with you, controlling you all your life until you realized that your body is not you. It's just a home for you though it is very precious because it's the only one you have. You must not give in to ill demands your body is making.
Your body is strong, it spells you to ignore that alarm clock for 5 more minute sleep. Your body forces upon you in a point blank second to scratch that itch on the nose.
Remind yourself constantly "My body is not who I am, It's a house I live in" Once you begin to observe this house, you can begin to control it.
3. Emotions
Being productive is more than just getting your body to wake up early, making it run, not scratching that itch. We are largely controlled by emotion. Emotion is not the body, yet it's always there. When you see someone walking on the street, now you can say "there is that being with her emotion, walking in that body." To have the leash on my emotion, I must put the leash on my emotion. Just as we have separated myself and body. We must do the same with emotion. Separate the emotion from myself and observe. When you feel anger or sad, instead of being in that center of tornado, observe it. Take a moment to be alone and quiet. Perhaps in a car or a bathroom.
4. State of mind
State of mind is who you are with separated from body and emotion. You are that being that has desire. You are the being some people named Soul. Who knows how long you have been existing or how long you will. It doesn't matter. What matters is that you are here and now. When you can begin to observe your body and emotion, then you can begin to change the state of mind. Controlling the mind, controlling your desire is the next step. But there is irony. We can not separate the desire from ourselves because desire is who we are. 'want' is who we are. We are made of many desires. Desires do clash and fight. Both internally within ourselves and externally in the world.
It's about aligning your desires. You can analyze your wants. You can prioritize them. You can decide the winner between immediate desire vs. long term desire.
5. How to be productive
Tell the body to get moving. Tell the emotion to feel good. Align desire to be productive and focus on why you want to be productive. Repeat this.
